Across the Pond

In mid-July I took the trip of a lifetime--a 15 day transatlantic journey to Ireland, England and Scotland with my mom and older sister (my first travel outside of the US and Canada!). I arrived home excited to share our adventures--despite the jet lag--and blog about all the details, but in the middle of uploading all my trip photos to the cloud our computer crashed. Hard. Died would probably be more accurate. We bought it refurbished about a year ago and it started having problems almost immediately. It got worse and worse over time until finally one day, when I still had about 400 photos to upload, it said its last goodbye and shuffled off this mortal coil. Closer inspection revealed a motherboard meltdown of epic proportions and a hard drive that was completely fried as well. Total bummer.

The good news is that I still had all those photos on my SD card and our new computer arrived this weekend. The photos have now been safely uploaded to the cloud. Although I'm not even sure where exactly to start, I plan to record some thoughts about my trip here on the blog. It is a sort of journal for me and we had experiences that I don't want to forget.

Over the next little while there will be several posts about my trip. I'm excited to share it with you. Think of it as a kind of old school slide show--minus the projector. I know I don't have a captive audience here like I would if I had a carousel of slides that I was narrating to you in my family room so I promise I'll try not to be too boring. And hey, if I am you can always leave and come back when I'm writing about something you are more interested in. There will be lots of pretty photographs, a few (hopefully) amusing stories and some food pictures (sorry, I'm not sorry. I'm a gastronome and the food was an integral part of the experience for me).  So, grab some popcorn and feel free to live vicariously through me. It's no worry, as they say in UK.
