Wishing:
--That I knew how to fix my printer.
--That my kids would go to bed.
--That my laundry would fold itself.
--That next time I go in the kitchen all the dishes will be magically washed and put away.
--That my vacuum wasn't broken.
--That I was more patient with others and didn't get frustrated so easily.
--That my husband wasn't always at work so late.
--That groceries didn't cost so much.
--That gas didn't cost so much.
--For a little more sunshine.
Grateful:
--That I have a computer (and a printer that will probably be fixed by this weekend).
--For my four sweet boys and good night hugs.
--For the smell of clean laundry and my $20 laundry closet makeover (pictures soon).
--That I have a dishwasher. And a thirteen year old son who often unloads it (with a little prompting).
--That my husband knows how to fix a broken vacuum.
--That I have kind and generous friends who are patient with me and who make me feel loved through their thoughtful words and deeds.
--That my husband has a job. And that the weekend is almost here so I will see a little more of him soon.
--For crisp juicy apples for a snack.
--That our poor beat-up car is still getting us where we need to go.
--For rain and for cooler temperatures that make driving our un-air-conditioned car much more pleasant.
Today's Poem: "I Hear America Singing" by Walt Whitman
I hear America singing, the varied carols I hear,
Those of mechanics, each one singing his as it should be blithe
and strong,
The carpenter singing his as he measures his plank or beam,
The mason singing his as he makes ready for work, or leaves off
work,
The boatman singing what belongs to him in his boat, the deck-
hand singing on the steamboat deck,
The shoemaker singing as he sits on his bench, the hatter singing
as he stands,
The woodcutter's song, the ploughboy's on his way in the morn-
ing, or at noon intermission or at sundown,
The delicious singing of the mother, or of the young wife at work,
or of the girl sewing or washing,
Each singing what belongs to him or her and to none else,
The day what belongs to the day—at night the party of young
fellows, robust, friendly,
Singing with open mouths their strong melodious songs.
--That I knew how to fix my printer.
--That my kids would go to bed.
--That my laundry would fold itself.
--That next time I go in the kitchen all the dishes will be magically washed and put away.

Great post! Just the kind of perspective I needed today. :)
And your son's freckles are darling. I imagine he wouldn't like being called darling....
I love your photo!
...I could copy and paste your first list and call it my own, LOL, except the printer would have to be traded with my work's system and my computer... LOL! But I love that you added a grateful list too. I need to catch up on your blog... :)
I need to catch up with yours too but I think my invite to your family blog expired. I tried logging in a week or so again and couldn't. Do you mind sending me another invite? :)
I'm partial to freckles. :)
