This is a series I am doing for the month of October. If you are new, you can start HERE. |
Thoughts on Joy:
Count Your Blessings |
When the road ahead seems long, gratitude helps us to pass the time joyfully.
“A grateful heart is a beginning of greatness… It is a foundation for the development of such virtues as prayer, faith, courage, contentment, happiness, love, and well-being.” President James E. Faust (1920–2007), “Gratitude As a Saving Principle,” Ensign, Dec. 1996, 5.
Counting blessings = joy. In the past I have kept a gratitude list. It helps me to keep it where I can see it often. Some days are tough, but I've found that if I look, there will be blessings to count. Always. Then on those days when it is really hard to have joy, I can go back and remember all that I have to be grateful for. Sometimes the memory of one simple joy can carry me for miles on my journey.
Today I Found Joy in My Journey:
--in the red leaves of this tree:
--reading a silly book to my little boys.
--enjoying another perfect Alabama autumn afternoon.
--listening to my kids and other kids in the neighborhood playing happily in our yard.
--going on a date with my husband (hasn't happened yet but I am giddy with anticipation).

What brought you joy today?

Have you heard MoTab's version of that counting sheep song? I love it.
And I LOVE red leaves in the fall. Most trees here turn yellow, so I usually shout and clap when I see a red one. Just like my three-year-old.
I so love your family pictures! the bow ties are great!! This is a fabulous series you're doing right now, something I'm sure everyone could benefit from. :) TFS!
