Sensory Joy

This is a series I am doing for the month of October. If you are new, you can start HERE.
Day 27
Thoughts on Joy:
Life is pretty amazing. Sometimes all we need to do to feel joy is to become a little more aware of our environment. We have been blessed with amazing bodies. They might not be perfect. They might not always function exactly as they are supposed to, but most of us are blessed with fully functioning senses that make being alive a joyful experience for us.

Here are the ways my senses brought me joy today:
--Sight: This morning was beautiful. I loved seeing the autumn leaves as I drove my family to school and work.
This is one of my favorite trees that I get to see on my morning drive.
The morning sky was full of cotton-batting clouds and watching the sun rising behind them was amazing and filled me with joy.

--Hearing: I love listening to my little boys play together. They have such vivid imaginations and their happy play is one of the sounds I most enjoy. Other sounds that I love: the telephone ringing when a friend is calling; the train whistle I hear every night as I lay in my bed; tree frogs (they aren't all gone yet); my dishwasher and washer and dryer running; my children praying; my husband saying "I love you".
And this. As a former college professor of mine said, it's better in German:

--Smell: My mom's prize-winning soup simmering on my stove for dinner, ginger, woodsmoke, pumpkin cookies, my son's hair after he washed it with juicy apple scented shampoo.
--Taste: The soup, pumpkin cookies, Norwegian brown butter cookies shared with me by a friend (something new that I hadn't tried before), ice water.
--Touch: the tingly cleansing feeling of a mineral clay mud mask, hugging my boys, snuggling into a warm bed and getting all cozy in the flannel sheets with the quilt piled on top, the car heater this morning before the day warmed up, wind blowing my hair, kissing my husband.
 What brought you joy today?
