Thoughts on Joy:

The last couple of days I have been in a funk. Ironic considering I am trying to write about joy, don't you think? Or maybe just inevitable. Anyway, yesterday it seemed like everything was going wrong and I was just so sad all day without any real reason.
I got to thinking about how happiness is a choice. I realized, when I was so sad it was up to me to make the decisions that I needed to make to turn that around. It was not easy!
I was tired. I hadn't been taking care of myself. I had been neglecting my family in a lot of ways--as the laundry pile continued to grow and grow my children's wardrobe choices became more and more limited. I had been focused on the negative things in my life and neglecting to count the blessings.
So, I took a nap. That gave me perspective.
I ate a healthy lunch.
I tried to quit thinking about myself so much and think of others instead. I did some small acts of service for people.
I put more effort into focusing on the positive.
I did laundry. Lots of it.
And at the end of the day things started to turn around. I still can't say that yesterday held much joy for me, but there were definite happy moments.
Today was so much better. Sometimes all it takes is a day.

Today I Found Joy in My Journey:
--visiting with a friend.
--in a thoughtful note from my cousin.
--eating a crisp, juicy apple. I love apple season.
--making plans for the future, but still living in the present.
--watching Specs run around outside and revel in the autumn weather.

What brought you joy today?

Pretty sure I'm going to print out your poster and hang it in my son's room. He needs that. Thanks.
The poster is awesome! I love it!
Have you read/heard of "The Happiness Project" by Gretchen Rubin? I'm almost finished and I love it! She has a website and a blog: http://www.happiness-project.com/ I think it's lots of fun -- and eye-opening. You might like it!
