This is a series I am doing for the month of October. If you are new, you can start HERE. |
Day 10
Thoughts on Joy:
“The gospel of Jesus Christ has the answers to all of our problems. The gospel is not a secret. It is not complicated or hidden… It is not someone’s theory or proposition. It does not come from man at all. It springs from the pure and everlasting waters of the Creator of the universe, who knows truths we cannot even begin to comprehend. And with that knowledge, He has given us the gospel—a divine gift, the ultimate formula for happiness and success.” President Dieter F. Uchtdorf, (“The Way of the Disciple,” Liahona or Ensign, May 2009, 75; emphasis added).
I am not perfect. I'd like everyone to think I am, but I'm not. You might as well know that now. It's okay--I don't think I was fooling anybody anyway. Yep, I have problems. I call people mean names when I'm driving. I don't exercise much. I spend too much time on the computer. I procrastinate. Aside from these weaknesses and imperfections (and numerous others that I don't necessarily want to share with the world) I have other things I'm dealing with too: Questions that I'm looking for answers to, trials I'm trying to get through, days when joy is utterly lacking in my life. We all do.
The good news is, we have a loving Father in Heaven. He loves us and wants us to be happy. He knew our individual journeys here on earth would be hard so, in His great wisdom, He provided a road map for us.
The commandments are the map. They help keep us on the road. The
way we should go is laid out plainly before us. We don't have to look
hard--this isn't some hidden treasure map (although it does lead to something priceless). It is an atlas to provide us direction on our
journey. If we don't pay attention to the map we end up wandering and lost, but when we follow it we have joy.
Today I Found Joy in My Journey:
--teaching preschool. I love doing preschool at home this year. We had so much fun today.
--when someone bought something from my Etsy shop. It's a little thing but it helps me feel good about my work.
--reading family members' blogs, particularly my brother-in-law's and my husband's cousin's.
--taking a little walk in the rain (thanks for the inspiration, Sam).--reading the scriptures with my family.
What brought you joy today?
